The OFGS Spring Meeting took place for the second time at Royal Worlington & Newmarket Golf Club on Thursday, 5 May. The weather was fine, if a little chilly at times, and the course, always testing, was in excellent condition. The catering was first class and we were well looked after by the secretary and his staff.

| OFGS Team Just Gets The Edge On Strong College Side |
Last Updated: Sunday, 10 October 2010
|
Robin Anderton reports that his rather handy OFGS team met a stiff challenge from David Morgan’s current Framlinghamians on Friday 8th October. The College team played extremely well but the OFGS side just came through 5/4.
As usual, Aldeburgh Golf Club was extremely generous with its hospitality to both teams, and Robin was delighted to be able to make a small donation to club funds to express everyone’s gratitude.
Two members of the College team, Doug Telfer and Connor O’Leary are in their final year, and Robin has already encouraged them to join the OFGS when they leave.

| Autumn Meeting Gets Off To Damp Start |
Last Updated: Monday, 13 September 2010
|
The meeting was held in rather mixed weather on Friday 10th September at Aldeburgh Golf Club, where we were looked after superbly as usual. There was another good turnout of thirty two OFs, the same number as last year, including some who had not played at a meeting for some while, and one young lady who had recently joined the society, having left the College in the summer – this was Jo-Jo Hamer-Philip, a very promising young golfer, who had an excellent debut, winning the scratch cup. Her official handicap is 6, though her score of 32 suggests she was playing closer to 4 on the day.
The overall scoring was very good as can be seen from the results shown below:

| OFGS Spring Meeting - Royal Worlington |
Last Updated: Friday, 21 May 2010
|
The OFGS Spring Meeting took place for the first time at Royal Worlington & Newmarket Golf Club on Thursday 13 May in fine sunny weather. Following a disappointing turn out of sixteen players last year, at The Warren, it was decided to move to another venue.
We are very grateful to Peter Howard-Dobson, a member of Royal Worlington, for his facilitating the change and he is no doubt delighted with the outcome as he had the best net score of the day! The course, considered by some to be the finest nine hole golf course in the world, was in superb condition and the day proved to be a great success. A report on the Grafton Morrish competition can be found at the end this report.

| Halford Hewitt - If at first you don't succeed.... |
Last Updated: Wednesday, 21 April 2010
|
No one could knock the OFGS Halford Hewitt team for trying, and hopes were running high that 2010 would bring success in the first round, as Gavin Cowell, Halford Hewitt team captain reports:
"We set out on Thursday 8th April with our strongest team in recent years and hoped to do well. We met Dulwich in the 1st Round at Royal St George’s Golf Club, Sandwich, losing 1-4. This was no disgrace as they were very steady in every pairing and went on to beat the holders, Tonbridge, in the second round, and Downside in the third round , before losing to the eventual winners, Clifton, in the fourth round.
The following day we played in the Princes Plate, losing ½ - 2 1/2 to Wellington, another strong team."

| OFGS Scores Well Against Depleted College Team |
Last Updated: Tuesday, 13 October 2009
|
Robin Anderton (S 54-59) reports that another very enjoyable match took place between the College and the OFGS at Aldeburgh Golf Club on the 9th October.
The College team, led by David Morgan, was a couple of players short because of a flu outbreak, but they didn’t lack enthusiasm. Three of the students, Alex Summers, Jo Jo Hamer-Philip and Katsuhiro Misaki, had played in last year’s match and so weren’t as intimidated as they might have been by the older Framlinghamians, but the OFGS team still went out of their way to help everyone relax.

The meeting was held in glorious golfing weather – what a contrast to last year - on Friday 11th September at Aldeburgh Golf Club.
