| Laura Wright Runs Venice Marathon For Venice in Peril Fund |
Last Updated: Friday, 8 October 2010
|
During her gap year at the Royal College of Music, Laura Wright (M 2002-08) made friends with a girl whose mother is a Director of the charity ‘Venice in Peril’ and, as a result, she decided to raise funds for this worthwhile project by running a marathon in the city itself. Laura has set herself a target of £1,000 and added “I wanted to be involved because Venice has been home, permanently or as visitors, to so many great composers, and has inspired many composers and performers to create beautiful music that is still listened to today”.
Update 8th October:
Ahead of her marathon event, on 24th October, "Laura & Friends" will be in concert at St Mary's Parish Church, Framsden, on Sunday 17th October at 5pm. Proceeds to Venice in Peril. Tickets at £8 adult, £5 OAPs and £2 under-12s, can be booked on 01473 890174 or 890891. Ticket price includes Cheese & Wine. Admission by ticket only.

| Autumn 2010 Overseas Bag |
Last Updated: Sunday, 19 September 2010
|
Chris Essex (K69-75) writes : Intrigued by the photo, then read on. The Autumn 2010 Overseas Bag is published in the People section. You will need to be signed in to the website to access the Overseas Bag. You will also be able to find out who this OF is and where he is other than just a place called Framlingham!
As always it’s been great to get so much correspondence in just the last few months. Space considerations mean that both the Newsletter and Yearbook can only contain a very edited version of this news, so I strongly encourage you to sign up and read about your former contemporaries.
As well as hearing from my regular corresponders, I’m always particularly delighted to hear from any overseas OFs for the first time. So why not get in touch with me and tell your contemporaries what you’ve been up to. E-Mail Chris Essex

Last Updated: Sunday, 5 September 2010

Paul Taylor, Headmaster of the College, has just announced the formation of “FramSoc”, which he describes as: “A new society, principally aimed at current parents, to enhance and broaden our community, providing opportunities to meet each other and members of staff in a relaxed atmosphere, and to share the educational and cultural facilities available here”.
He goes on to say, “While current College and Brandeston Hall parents will form the principal focus of the society, it will also be open to the wider community, including past parents, teaching and non-teaching staff, and others associated with the College”. This includes, of course, Old Framlinghamians.

| Patrick Spragg's golfing success continues |
Last Updated: Thursday, 26 August 2010
|
On 22nd August at Hintlesham Golf Club, Stowmarket amateur Patrick Spraggs (G 2004-2009) added the Suffolk Open Championship to his Suffolk Amateur Championship victory at Purdis Heath in June. Patrick needed a birdie at the closing hole to overhaul Fynn Valley’s Jamie Abbott, the Suffolk Open Champion in 2005 and a recent qualifier for the British Open. His score of 205 over the 54 holes (11 under par) was just good enough to take the title by one shot from Abbott.
In June Patrick played for the European students team against the American students team in the Palmer Cup at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland. The Europeans lost narrowly but Patrick won his singles match. He had won automatic selection for the team by winning the R&A Foundation Scholars Tournament at St Andrews in the spring.
After a year at Stirling University, Patrick is leaving to attend college in the USA on a golfing scholarship and we wish him every success.
