My wife, Jill, and I regard it as a real privilege to have known Laurie, Gillian and their four sons. Their sense of family extends throughout the College and Laurie did much for me personally to enhance my career horizons. As a future headmaster, I learned so much from him and he was my obvious mentor.
He did so much to take the College from its East Anglian antecedents and to give it a renowned national and international reputation. I enjoyed much of his modernising zeal and we felt the benefits of improved accommodation in the House, classrooms and, of course, major progress with indoor and outdoor hockey facilities.
The Rimmer family were always generous and welcoming : traits so obviously recognised in the whole College day to day life and work.
