George Payne

1933-2010

After leaving Framlingham George spent two years doing National Service and then went to Writtle Agricultural College. He then started farming at Debenham where he developed the farm into a well run, tidy and productive business. The crops at White Hall were a great credit to his skill.

He and Gill married in 1960 and were so near to celebrating their Golden Wedding on 19th June but for George’s untimely death. They were blessed with three children, Sarah, Jodie and George and six grandchildren.

George’s many interests included sailing, water skiing, swimming, in fact almost anything to do with water. He was also a very enthusiastic skier, spending winter holidays in the Alps until ill health deprived him of this sport.
