Chatterblock

This is the online Chatterblock available to SOF members and College 6th Formers.

The purpose of this facility is to enable registered SOF website users to send general messages to other people who are logged on the website. The messages can either be sent to all users or Private Messages sent to individual users.

General Messages
Click into Chatterblock box "Enter Message", the existing text will be deleted so you can type your message and then click Send/Refresh.

Private Messages
Click into Chatterblock box "Enter Message". The existing text will be deleted. You need to know the SOF website User Name which you can see in a User Profile which is accessible by clicking the name of a person in the Who's Online box or from the User Profile link which can be found via the Directory. When you know the User Name then Type "/tell UserName, ..." (remember the comma after the User Name) and then click Send/Refresh.

Alternatively, you can send Private Messages via the "PM's" option in the Forum. This has the added advantage that you can click "Members" to see a list of website User Names.

To delete read Private Messages, tick the Check Box by the messages and click Send/Refresh.

Pop Up Messages
Users who have "Enable Popup Alerts" enabled via User Functions > Chatterblock Settings will recieve a message alerting them that they have a Private Message or there have been general messages posted to Chatterblock. Users will have to be logged on the website to receive these alerts but, if they are not, they will receive notification next time they logon.
