Ernest James STEADMAN
Some time in the course of 2002, aged 87 years. Ernest was a Foundation scholar and gained the Goldsmith Exhibition in 1929 and 1930. He was awarded the Richmond Prize for Maths in 1930 and the Packard Prize for Science in 1930. He went to London University and obtained a BSc Physicist in X-Ray engineering. Ernest was an Associate of the Institute of Physics and worked with the General Electric Co. Ltd. He was a Research staff in 1933-37 and became Development technican 1937-44; he was chief technical engineer, X-ray, 1944-46 and British Standards Institution technical officer 1946-47. Later he joined Watson and Sons (Electro Medical) Ltd. as engineer in charge of technical section in 1947.
