Using images and links
The forums support the use of images and links (URLs) in postings as well as a number of text formatting attributes. Raw HTML may be used directly within the message body, or else the assisted-code buttons (see below)provided in the post submission form may be used to automatically insert the code

Using raw HTML
To insert an image into your message use the following code (substituting the text in red as appropriate):

<img src="http://www.mywebsite.co.uk/path-to-image/filename.ext">

To insert a link (URL) to a website, or page on a website, use the following HTML code (substituting the text in red as appropriate)

<a href="http://www.mywebsite.co.uk" target="_blank">
(note: the "target" element is required to open the page in a new window)

Using the assisted-code buttons
The post submission form has a number of buttons to assist with inserting images, URLs and other text-formatting elements - including font colour and size via pull-downs below the buttons. There is also a small window below that will automatically display the code to be inserted by a button that appears when the mouse is placed over the button.

assistance buttons & code help

To insert assisted code, press the appropriate button to open the auto-tag (activate). A star will appear on the button to show an "active" status. Then enter the URL of the image, website, or text that will have the attribute applied to it. When you have finished entering the URL, or text you wish the attribute applied to, simply push the button again to close the tag (de-activate) and return to normal text entry.

Certain attributes (for example <font> colour and size from the pull-downs) may require re-positioning of the cursor between the inserted tags as shown below (otherwise the attribute won't be applied):

<font color=red>|</font>
(re-position the cursor at the | before continuing)

Smileys
To the left of the message body input area in the posting form there is also a panel of clickable smileys. To insert these into your message simply click the appropriate image. The forum code for that image will be automatically inserted at the end of the text already typed.
