| OF Suffolk Supper to be a Howard Robinson Testimonial |
Last Updated: Tuesday, 9 August 2005
|
Howard Robinson, affectionately and universally known as Zowie, retired from full-time teaching at the end of the Summer Term, after twenty-five years at the College. Generations of Framlinghamians have been inspired by his enthusiasm and unfailing good humour both as Head of Biology (which he has been throughout, and later deputy Head of Science as well) and as a tireless organiser and participant in the Barbershop Group (which he founded) and the Choir. What better, then, than to use the occasion of the OF Suffolk Supper on October 1st to bring these generations back together to sing Zowie's praises and, particularly for old Biology students, to take a tour of the Bio Labs.

| Charity Bike Ride for Mencap - September 2005 |
Last Updated: Saturday, 16 July 2005
|
EDF Energy, Ian Pearson's (67-73) employers, have a two year partnership with MENCAP. EDF Energy, have given Ian an opportunity to raise money for Mencap by taking part a Sponsored Bike Ride from Reims to Paris in September this Year. For every £ Ian raises in sponsorship, EDF Energy will match the donation.
As Ian says "My Daughter has been off school with Psychiatric problems for the last 18 months. She is only 15 and it made me realise how delicate the brain is and how unfortunate in life some people can be through no fault of their own."
Anyone wishing to sponsor Ian, can do this very easily and securely through the Just Giving charity donations website: www.justgiving.com/pearsonica.
Thank you for your generosity.

| Family Fun at Hertfordshire OF Event |
Last Updated: Friday, 8 July 2005

The 2nd July was a busy day: the start of the Tour de France; the second Lions Test; England's one day match against Australia; Ladies’ final at Wimbledon; Live 8; and last but not least, the Hertfordshire OF cricket and golf day at Therfield, near Royston. Despite not receiving as much publicity as these alternative attractions, there was a good turn out for the cricket, which made for an entertaining afternoon.

| Wanted: Volunteer(s) |
Last Updated: Thursday, 12 May 2005
|
"Wanted for hazardous journey. Small wages, bitter cold, long months of darkness, constant danger, safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in case of success"
Actually we are not re-enacting Shackleton's journey to the Antarctic but we do need a volunteer or volunteers to take on the development and management of the "Famous OFs" section of the SOF media. YOU DO NOT NEED TECHNICAL ABILITY. We don't want to describe the work in too much detail as the remit and time-commitment is really up to the right person(s) to develop. We do have some ideas and potential leads and have already done some preparatory work in the website archive; liaison will be vital with the rest of the SOF media team on leads and potential stories.
Email your interest to the Website Team - webmaster@oldframlinghamian.com
