BMW Bike Weekend at the College
Brian Rosen (S40-46) has been in touch to let us know that the BMW (Motorcycle) Club are this year having a weekend based at the College, from 28th to 31st August 2009.  Although Brian has been a member of the BMW Club for over 30 years, he's not able to make this weekend, but thought other BMW owning OFs may like the opportunity to stay at the College again.

Move over Button and Hamilton there’s a new(ish!) kid on the grid!
Chris Essex writes : In contacting OFs about the forthcoming West of England Supper I came across another OF sportsman to add to the Distinguished section of the website.

Ian Connell (R68-73) has been racing sports cars for a number of years and has a team called Connell Racing that includes himself and his two sons. I’m delighted to say that Ian and his sons have just won their first race of the year at the Rockingham Speedway circuit, in the six hour Fun Cup UK series.

For full details on Ian, his car and the recent victory click here. We wish Ian the very best for the rest of the series.

Another budding OF author launches his first book
Chris Shaw (K50-56) has just launched his first book, called "It's All Relative: Stories to Shorten your Travel Time". According to Chris it's available as a book (it will never need batteries), an Audio CD (hands-free listening), an e-book (will never clutter your bookcase), an audio e-book (an MP3 version to download) and as a flash drive (a really sexy way to have it all!)

They are a collection of quirky stories that have been especially written to entertain you on your travels. See his website for more details.

Devastating Fires in Victoria, Australia
Chris Essex writes: We will all have seen the dreadful destruction and loss of life in Victoria, Australia, so I got in touch with all OFs living in the area, for whom we had e-mail addresses.

Fortunately all those I have heard from are personally OK. Click READ MORE to read their responses.

STOP PRESS – 16 February 2009 I’ve just heard from Bob Munro (R56-60) with a fascinating tale of how he didn’t initially hear about the fires, even though he was in the state of Victoria! I encourage you to read his fascinating story and those of other OFs in Victoria, Australia.
