Neil Flowerdew handed over the Strathcona ceremonial lance

Neil Flowerdew handing over lance - November 2021 - small
Richard Sayer writes "Neil Flowerdew (Hon OF) handed over to Martin Myers-Allen, representing the College, the Strathcona ceremonial lance on 9 November 2021.

The lance had been presented by the Regiment to Neil, as representative of the Flowerdew family, in March 2018, at Billingford, Norfolk, the birthplace of Gordon Flowerdew. That presentation was part of the Regiment’s commemoration of the centenary of the battle of Moreuil Wood, when Gordon Flowerdew OF led a cavalry charge against enemy machine guns, an action for which he was awarded a VC posthumously.

Neil continues to give the College an annual medal, showing the crests of the College and the Strathconas side by side, to be awarded to a deserving senior NCO member of the College’s CCF unit."

OF Northern Gathering 2022

College Crest
Douglas Thomson writes : "The Old Framlinghamian Northern Gathering will be a lunch at the Royal Scots Club on 13th August 2022.  If you have not already booked your place why not come and join us.  The quality of the lunch will be excellent and the company – well, just delightful!

The event is definitely on as we already have a reasonable quorum of OF’s and their partners though sadly as yet no female OF and her partner.  I live in hope.  Do remember this event is as much for partners of OF;s as OF’s themselves.   Please contact Douglas Thomson (douglas@ddathomson.co.uk) if you intend attending.

I write at this time in case you are interested in attending the Tattoo.  Normally tickets are now available but as yet there has been no announcement.  If you are interested do keep an eye on https://www.edintattoo.co.uk/tickets

Golf Society Logo
Jonny Newton (K85-92), OFGS First Team Captain says "Having won the Trophy at the four previous Tournaments, our hopes were high that the winning run would be extended to five in succession. Unfortunately, this was not to be, and we ended up in sixth place out of twelve, losing the 5th/6th place play off to Uppingham by 3 holes."
