| Update on S.B. Cambria |

William Collard (S55-58) planned and took a key part in the Re-dedication of SB Cambria at Standard Quay, Faversham on 9 May 2012. The restoration project was completed last year and ‘the last sailing barge to carry a cargo under sail’ has had several sailings since. This event was the culmination of its last phase which started in 1996 when Cambria was purchased for £1 from the Maritime Trust.
The 91 footer was re-dedicated by The Most Reverend Jonathan Blake, Bishop of Greater London and Presiding Archbishop of the Open Episcopal Church. His two addresses included a moving reading of Sea Fever by Masefield.

| OF Nephews Launch Desktop Battalion |

 Many Old Framlinghamians will remember Nick Ward, Honorary OF, Housemaster of Stradbroke House (1981-86) and then College Bursar from 1986-91. Others will also remember his daughter Emma (now Woollard) and Simon who were at Brandeston and then respectively in Pembroke (82-91) and Ziegele (83-93).
Emma has just been in touch to say, “My little brother (Major Simon Ward) has just left on active service to Afghanistan and will be away for six months. In order to support him and his fellow service chaps my boys (Freddie, 10, and Toby, 8) and I have come up with the idea of The Desktop Battalion. Regardless of what your political, humanitarian or ethical views may be, we have some very brave service men and women a long way from home doing a tough job in our country's name and I hope that fellow Old Framlinghamians will want to offer their support to them. I know, of course that many will already have contributed to appeals like mine.

| SOF Hong Kong Supper |

Ian Howard (S57-62) reports as follows: The annual Hong Kong supper was held
on 22 March, 2012, at the China Club in Central Hong Kong. The occasion brought together the following ten OFs: Ian Howard (S57-62); John Birt (S59-63); Bob Holland (R57-65); Keith Williams (R63-67); Bob Fox (R66-71); Brian Williams (G72-75); Moira Theulier (M91-93); John Ting (G02-09); Henry Tang (K03-10); Ian Tsang (K02-09). John Birt very kindly gave all three of the 21st century OFs an SOF tie.
Brian Williams agreed to provide the venue (East Hotel, Tai Koo Shing, HK) for next year's supper. The hotel is part of the Swire Group's expanding hotel chain (of which Brian is MD). Moira Theulier (hurrah for our very first Old Framlinghamienne participant!) agreed to work on a HKSOF Facebook site after Easter.

| Walk in memory of Tony Knight (K63-72) in aid of Motor Neurone Disease |

There is a charity fundraising event taking place on 11 March 2012 in aid of Motor Neurone Disease. This is the 10th anniversary of the passing away of Tony Knight (K63-72). Those OFs who were contemporaries of Tony's will know that he was an extraordinarily talented sportsman (Captain of Rugby, Cricket and Hockey) and it was particularly cruel that he was struck down by Motor Neurone Disease at a relatively young age.

| Queen's Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant |

Bill Collard (S55-58) reports that the recently restored Thames sailing barge Cambria (see OF news 9th December 2011) is one of the few vessels selected to form the static Avenue of Sail at the Queen's Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant on the 3rd June 2012. As the last UK registered trading vessel to carry a cargo under sail alone, Cambria holds a unique position in UK maritime history. Also in the manpowered section of the parade is the Dunkirk Little Ship M.V. White Marlin, owned in the 1970s by Bill's late father Geoffrey Collard (S29-31)
Bill also reports that following two successful trial charters last autumn, Cambria will be used by Rotary International though out this years sailing season to promote their 'caring for carers' scheme. Rotary have also contracted to use the topsail space over the next three years for their international logo.

| Adam Wolley Rows - Helps set new record for Atlantic Rowing |

Former Brandeston Hall student, Adam Wolley (95-2001), has just completed a 3,000 mile row across the Atlantic, raising money for charity, and creating a new world record in the process! They were the youngest four-man crew to ever cross an ocean. Click here to see article in Diss Express.

| Richard Vaughan-Griffith MC 1945-2012 |

It is with much sadness that we learn of the death of distinguished OF Richard Derek Lloyd Vaughan-Griffith MC (K60-64). He had been ill for some time and passed away on Wednesday 4 January 2012. The funeral service took place on Thursday 26 January 2012 at 11.00am, at the Church of St Mary The Virgin, Frensham, Surrey, GU10 3EA.
Richard was the most recent OF to be awarded the Military Cross, which he won in 1967 while serving with the Queen's Own Hussars in Aden. More recently he had owned an international Risk Management consultancy. You can read his distinguished article here.
