| Grafton Morrish Tournament - Saturday 10 May |
Last Updated: Tuesday, 13 May 2008
|
Gavin Cowell’s first team played at Knole Park GC in the South East regional qualifying round on Saturday 10th May in very hot weather, a total contrast to last year’s. The team came 12th out of a total of 19 public school old boy teams with a score of 74 points which, unfortunately, was not enough to qualify for the finals as they did last year.
The team consisted of Gavin Cowell & Alex Cameron (29), Charles Plunkett & Matt Stolls (23) and Martin Lamb & Robin Anderton (22).

| OFGS: Halford Hewitt Report |
Last Updated: Thursday, 17 April 2008
|
David Turnbull, OFGS Secretary, reports:
Halford Hewitt Tournament at Royal Cinque Ports GC on Thursday, 10th April 2008
Framlingham lost 1-4 in the first round to Glenalmond. The match was once again surprisingly close as, when we lost our third match, we were about to close out with wins in the other two, but, under the rules, these had to be halved: 2-3 would have been a fairer reflection of the team’s efforts.

| OF Golfers: Highs and Lows at Grafton Morrish Finals |
Last Updated: Monday, 22 October 2007
|
Back in May we reported that Gavin Cowell and his team had qualified for the knockout stages of the Grafton Morrish tournament for the first time since 1998. These were contested recently, and David Turnbull, OFGS Secretary, reports as follows:
The Grafton Morrish Finals were played at Hunstanton at the beginning of October where we were drawn against St Columba’s in the first round and lost 2 ½-1/2.
The results were as follows: Gavin Cowell and John Wybar halved; Richard Graves and Peter Watts lost: Charles Plunkett and Richard Cullinan lost. The team played the following day in the Solihull Salver and scored a very respectable 74 points, coming half way down the field of 27, but only 13 points behind the winners, Solihull!
The team was ably supported by Andrew Towler, Martin Lamb and Matt Stolls.

Cyril Gray Tournament (Three pairs, each individual over 50)
28th - 30th June 2007
Richard Cullinan reported that the OF pairings of Robin Beckwith & Michael Spencer, Peter Watts & Martin Lamb and Robin Anderton & Richard Cullinan all won their 1st round matches in a convincing 3-0 win over Chigwell. In the 2nd round we lost 1-2 to Wrekin, who reached the final. In the matches that were lost we were up, only to sadly collapse at the end. However, everyone had lots of fun and the team spirit was good.

Last Updated: Friday, 23 September 2005

Robin Anderton and his eight-man team had a terrific 36-hole struggle against Aldeburgh Golf Club on 17th September and built themselves a 2 1/2 to 1 1/2 lead by lunch. However, Aldeburgh fortified themselves sufficiently to pull-back to 4 - 4 by the end of the day, which was very much enjoyed by all concerned.
