Christina makes number one in the charts

The EADT has run a great story on the life of Christina Johnston (V01-06).  What's more her recently released single, A Million Tears, made it to number one in the classical charts a couple of weeks ago, beating Ed Sheeran and Andrea Bocelli to the top spot.

SOF ANNUAL DINNER - 2 APRIL 2022

Simon Dougherty writes: The Society’s Annual Dinner will be held at the Royal Air Force Club, 128 Piccadilly, London W1J 7PY on Saturday 2 April 2022.  Prior to the dinner, the Society will hold its AGM at 6.15pm - click here for agenda, minutes etc. While this is being held, partners and guests will be able to relax in the Churchill Bar which will be open from 6.00pm.  Pre-dinner drinks will be served in the Churchill Bar from 7 o’clock, with dinner being served in the first floor Queen’s Room at 7.30pm. Dress is Black Tie or equivalent.  Full details of the dinner may be downloaded here.

After dinner, Christina Johnston (V01-06), the well-known coloratura soprano, will give a short recital.

The cost of the dinner is £50 per head excluding drinks.  Younger OFs will be subsidised – the first 20 OFs aged under 30 years on 2 April 2022, to apply and pay for places, will be charged only £25!  A vegetarian option or any other dietary requirements should be stated on the Application Form which may be downloaded here.  Tables will be arranged to seat 10, so you can reserve a table for your group or apply for individual tickets – just fill in the form as appropriate.

The closure date for applications is noon on Friday 25 March 2022.  Cancellation without financial penalty may be made until the same date.  Transport from Framlingham College to the RAF Club and return has been arranged. Service for former College Chaplain

Rev Michael Booker (Hon OF) died on 28 November  2021.  He was Chaplain at the College from 1984 to 1999 and the father of Rachel Hotz (nee Booker) (P83-85). A Service of Thanksgiving for his life and ministry will be held in St Michael’s Church, Framlingham on Wednesday 16th March at 2.30pm. All welcome.

Ian Fulcher writes : Hopefully we are over the worst of the Covid-19 pandemic and returning to an element of normality again. As such, we are pleased to announce that the Newmarket Supper will be taking place on Thursday 28th April at the Bedford Lodge Hotel, Bury Road, Newmarket CB8 7BX.

Unfortunately, with very few bookings, this event has been cancelled - as of 12th April 2022

Ken Mayhew: A Service of Thanksgiving at The College

The Thanksgiving Service for Ken Mayhew was held on Saturday 5 March 2022 in a packed College Chapel.  Ken’s family were joined by representatives of the Embassy of the Netherlands, the Royal Military William Order, the Royal Anglian regiment and many friends and OFs, as well as the Principal and other representatives of the College.

OF publishes 2nd book written during lockdown

Ian Foster (K46-53), following the success of publishing his memoirs in 2020 has now published The Silver Spoon which is a fictional story intertwining us through three generations of love, care and bravery of the Mitchell family from Glasgow beginning in 1843 to 1960.

OF launches charity single on 11 February 2022

Christina Johnston (V01-06) is the voice of War Horse Memorial.  The first “International War Animal Remembrance Day” will be on February 24th.

The new charity single “A Million Tears” is released on February 11th and is the stunning and thought-provoking new single by internationally acclaimed soprano, Christina.  This is an anthem to remember the service and sacrifice of animals in wars and is the official song for the first International War Animal Remembrance Day and the purple poppy emblem.

Please spread the word and let people know about this amazing cause  It will be available on all platforms @itunes @amazonmusicuk @spotify @vevo @youtube @tiktok @iheartradio etc .



College choir performing in Edinburgh

During the College’s February half term week the Senior School Catus and Cappella Lumina choir will be touring prestigious venues across Edinburgh. They will give three performances (each of around 40 minutes) in Churches and Cathedrals located in the heart of Edinburgh’s City Centre. It is a fantastic opportunity for all involved, not only to represent Framlingham College and showcase the choir’s talents, but also providing the pupils a chance to explore such a culturally rich city. 

Should you find yourselves near Edinburgh and wish to attend any of the concerts, the itinerary is below:  Sunday 20th  Feb, 3.00 pm - Greyfriars Kirk; Monday 21st , 3.00 pm - Canongate Kirk; Tuesday 22nd, 1.30 pm - St Giles’ Cathedral



OF Netball Match Report - January 2022

Tuesday 4th January 2022 saw the annual Old Framlinghamian vs Framlingham College 1st Netball match. The game was extremely tight, with the College just edging ahead after the half time break and the game ended just in favour of the College but a wonderful evening was had by all.

Cancellation: SOF London Supper - 28 January 2022

Cancellation: It is with much regret that, with only a small number of confirmed reservations, coupled with the very high incidence rate of Covid-19 in London (1:11 as reported by the Office for National Statistics), the decision has been taken to cancel this event. The next London Supper will be in July - keep an eye on the Events calendar.

Alex Henney (Z84-95) has kindly agreed to organise another London Suppers at The Lansdowne Club, 9 Fitzmaurice Place, London. W1J 5JD on Friday, 28th January 2022.

The meal will cost £55 each, excluding drinks, payable in advance.  The first 10 to apply and pay who are under 30 will only pay £30 of their Supper cost. There are a finite number of supper tickets available. Last date for booking is Friday, 14th January 2022.
