Very saddened by news of Kenneth Knight’s passing. Kenneth was a great Framlinghamian and for over 50 years gave distinguished service to the College through various offices in the S.O.F.
After we left school Kenneth and I met in the unlikely place of Deolali, a base depot in India. We were both on our way to Burma, Ken having already served in the Middle East, and we had some nostalgic meals together with much talk of Rupe, Toffee etc. Having migrated to Australia in 1955 I didn’t see Kenneth again until a visit to UK nearly 30 years later when we met on the Back. He and Patricia invited my wife and me together with David Brooke and Andrew Currie and their wives to lunch. On subsequent visits we had further meals together either in their lovely home and garden in The Avenue, Ipswich, or at the old Saxtead Volunteer, the last time in 1999.
We corresponded pretty regularly twice a year when Kenneth would bring me up-to-date on news of his own beloved family as well as of the wider Fram family, and we would exchange views on the cricketing prospects of out two countries. I remember the 2005 season brought us both a great deal of pleasure, unlike the present debacle!
We join all other OFs of the past 70 years to give thanks to God for the life, friendship and service of this warm-hearted man who committed so much of his time and ability to the well-being of generations of Framlingham boys.
