Selectors Appoint Three New Moreau Scholars

The task of the Moreau Scholarships Selection Panel is always a difficult one; the quality of candidates, who have gone through the process of nominating themselves for consideration and then had to garner support from their peers, friends and members of staff, is always impressive, and the panel somehow has to whittle this down to just two.

This year, however, they reached an impasse. There was just no reasonable way in which they felt they could exclude one of the three remaining candidates, at the end of a day when they'd interviewed all seven short-listed hopefuls. The solution, after a bit of consultation with SOF colleagues, was to appoint all three of them.

So it was that, on Speech Day, Richard Sayer (S56-61), presented Alex Myers-Allen, Charlotte Gower and Jasper Maberly with their first-year cheques for £800, and confirmation that they were now members of the SOF's Council.

You can read about the College careers and future aspirations of our new scholars in the Moreau Scholars section of the website. Just to make it easy for you , click here.

Our picture shows, from Left to Right: Lewis Myers-Allen (Moreau Scholar 2012), Tony Lawrence (among many things, Lawrence's mentor), Simon Dougherty (among many things a member of the Selection Panel), Richard Sayer (SOF President), Peter Howard-Dobson (Mentoring Co-ordinator and mentor to Jasper Maberly), Norman Porter (among many things, SOF Hon Sec and member of the Selection Panel), Charlotte Gower (Scholar 2013), Jasper Maberly (Scholar 2013) and Alex Myers-Allen (Scholar 2013).
