UPDATE : As you will all hopefully be aware there are big plans afoot in Australia & NZ to jointly celebrate 150th anniversary of first pupils arriving at the College and 100th anniversary of ANZACs being involved in Gallipoli in 1915. This event will take place on 19 April 2015 and further details can be found by clicking Read More or by contacting Chris Shaw or Mike Garnett.
Nearly 60 are already committed to going, including some from the UK, Thailand and the Middle East. It therefore only seemed right to invite a currently serving Royal to come along. A letter was therefore dispatched by Chris to Prince Harry at Kensington Palace. Unfortunately he doesn’t at present have plans to be in Australia at that time, but Chris has received this reply from his Private Secretary.
UPDATE: With one year to go Mike and Chris have issued a newsletter update. As a result, over 50 are now already committed to attending this event. Click here to read the Newsletter .
ORIGINAL : As you will hopefully have read in the recent 2013 Newsletter, Mike Garnett (R53-55), Chris Shaw (K51-56) and his wife Rebecca are arranging a very special event to jointly celebrate 150th anniversary of first pupils arriving at the College and 100th anniversary of ANZACs being involved in Gallipoli in 1915. Their brilliant work to date has already resulted in 34 committing to attend from Australia, New Zealand and much further afield and its still over 20 months away!
This event will take place on 19 April 2015 at the Sebel Kirkton Park in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales, home for many years of the legendary Australian OF Len Evans OBE AO (G42-48). They would be delighted for OFs around the world to attend this historic event and at the moment, the only commitment needed is the payment of A$100 per head towards the meal. Here is the invite that went out to all OFs in Australia/NZ and some further afield.
If you are interested in attending then please contact Chris or Mike.
