James Ruddock-Broyd (G46-52) reports as follows:
“On the 20th November, The Farmers Club held a lunch in the House of Lords for senior members of the Club and special guests. The lunch was graciously sponsored by Lord Montrose, and the guest speaker was The Right Honourable John Selwyn Gummer, Lord Deben, who spoke on the European Union and the forecast for food and farming worldwide, following adverse weather conditions across the world, but particularly in the UK and the United States.
Lord Plumb of Coleshill (Henry Plumb), on behalf of Paul Heygate, Chairman of The Farmers Club, then presented The Farmers Club Cup of the Year to Sir James Paice (G60-66) for his work as Minister of State for Agriculture and Food. Sir James had, as reported elsewhere, been recently knighted on stepping down from office in September." "John Stones (K64-71), Director of the Nuffield Foundation, James Ruddock-Broyd (G46-52) and John Kerr (G53-56) also attended the lunch.”
