Suffolk Supper Report - 2012

The supper this year followed a similar format to last. It differed in that the meal, instead of being finger food, was a choice of three self -service hot dishes with vegetables and/or rice followed by a plate of little puddings. This went down very well with all who participated. Though there wasn't much food left over, everyone had as much as they wanted, even sampling two or three of the dishes, and going back for second helpings.

Just before the meal the President presented the Headmaster with a cheque for £100,000 as the Society’s initial contribution towards the Capital projects to mark the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the College, which will take place in 2015. Paul Taylor suitably responded in thanking the Society and its members for their generosity.
During the meal the President welcomed three new Honorary Members who had been elected at the Annual General Meeting held in March. They were Dr Robbie Moffatt, Margaret Graystone and Mary Lawrence each of whom was presented with either a tie or some other suitable memento of the occasion.

After supper we were entertained by Emily Heldreich who is still at the College, Emily Higgins and Rosie Bullen (both OFs) led by Tim Rhodes, the new Head of Music at the College, in a selection of songs.

The date for next year had been discussed at the Council Meeting which had preceded the supper. It was felt that the original idea to have the meeting in mid-September to enable those at University to come was not working. As the date was so close to the start of term there was little chance to organise much with staff. The general feeling was to move the Suffolk Supper to the last day before half term in October. No final decision has yet been made so your views would be welcomed.
