Red Faces As Newcomers Smash Fram Shooters - Part 2
Rifle Club
Steve McDowell, OFRC Scribe, continues his epic report:

LONG RANGE MATCH 8th May 2010
Grim weather, underdressed, and with nipples like bullets and hands like ice sculptures, we trudged in brutal wind from 900 to 1000 yards and attempted to see the greying targets half a mile away.

Marshal Zhukov, as usual not taking any prisoners, has convinced top wind coach Guy Larcombe (presumably threatening him with the gulag) to come and coach the A team. Our huge thanks go to him for his patience and expertise in weather which no fun for anyone. We are also privileged to welcome latest recruit Rupert "Virgin" Cherryman, a recent convert to full bore who claiming never to have shot long range before stays steady and shoots himself into the A-team at the first attempt.

But it is to no avail - with McDowell experiencing a complete disaster despite the careful wisdom of David Argent and the HonSec once again failing to master his latest expensive accessory.

Ensign Chapman is again reliable and the skipper rediscovers some form, while Horton Junior fires himself into medal winning position with two solid 48s. John "Dartford Tunnel" Horton proves there is indeed some fight left in old dogs as he slots home an effortless 48.3 at the ever-tricky 1000 yards.

We all await June 6th and the Battle of All Day when the team will have to chance to redeem themselves and indeed avert a substantial spell in custody in the Framlingham Gulag Number 3 (just behind the Day Boys' bogs, if I remember correctly).

N.B. So large have our events now become that it has become necessary to acquire a range officer and that post was filled by the kindness of John Miller - the thanks of the OFRC go to him.
