Porter's Golfing Heroes Take a 5-2 Lead Over Old Ipswichians |

Peter Howard-Dobson (R 65-69) reports: The last time I wrote about the series of informal golf matches between teams led by Norman Porter (Hon Sec SOF) and Karl Daniels (Chairman of Governors, Ipswich School) was in June 2006 when the OF side pulled-off a stunning victory to level the new series two-all.
Since then, winning has become a bit of a habit for Porter's team - not wishing to be outshone, perhaps, by those pesky shooters! Anyway, suffice it to say that, three years on, the OFs beat the OIs 4 1/2 to 1 1/2 at Woodbridge on Monday 15th June, to take a magnificent 5-2 lead.
Representing the OFs were:
Norman Mayhew & Robin Anderton
Peter Howard-Dobson & Andrew Wright
Chris Milner-Moore & Norman Porter
John Thurlow and Dudley Holland
Brian Evans & Roger Askew
Alaistair Howard-Dobson & Ian Bryce
The match was followed by the usual excellent meal and good humoured (if ever so slightly barbed) speeches from the two captains.
